Hydro
Hydro-generated Electricity
Hydro based electricity production is limited by Nova Scotia’s geography and lack of a major river system. In 2000, eight per cent of Nova Scotia’s electricity was produced by hydro systems. Most of the province’s hydro plants are small by utility standards with the exception of the 230 MW plant at Wreck Cove. There are also two small privately owned hydro plants.
