Biofuels
When we talk about biofuels, there are essentially two streams: ethanol and biodiesel.
Ethanol is produced from the starch or cellulose and hemicellulose components of biomass.
Biodiesel is generally produced from vegetable oils extracted from seeds through a mechanical or solvent extraction process. Biodiesel, however, can also be produced from other oils such as fish oil or oils generated from forestry and agricultural waste through direct liquefaction or fast pyrolysis.
